One Response to “Information about the Kindles for Kids Scholarship Program”

  1. Kim Hancock Says:

As a teacher in a new Title 1 school I am in desperate need of books. My students are 76% minority and they live at or below the poverty level. They don’t have technology at home or books to read. I am requesting a grant for a classroom set of Kindles. I believe they would allow me to integrate more technolgy into my language arts curriculum, download appropriate leveled reading material for my students’ individual needs on whatever topic we happen to be studying, encourage my reluctant readers, and work a little on saving the planet by creating a paperless classroom! I currently use a website called Reading A-Z which allows me to download classroom leved readers for my students. It would save, time, energy, money and the planet if I was able to directly download them to my students’ individual Kindles. It is a great product and I am hopeful that you will find it in your budget to grant Mrs. Hancock’s 3rd grade classroom a set! Thank you for your consideration!
    Sincerely,
    Kim Hancock
